Dr. Jose Flores
Dr. Flores holds his Bachelor and Master degrees in violin performance from the Aaron Copland School of Music at the City University of New York (CUNY) where he studied violin with Margaret Pardee, assistant to Ivan Galamian, and Daniel Phillips, member of the Orion String Quartet.

He obtained his Doctorate in Musical Arts degree from the University of Arizona where he was a teaching assistant to Professor Mark Rush.  While in Arizona, he also received violin instruction from Steven Mockel, Concertmaster of the Tucson Symphony and studied conducting with Dr. Thomas Cockrell.


Dr. Flores was appointed Assistant Professor of Violin at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in the fall of 2006 where he is a founding member of the Islander String Quartet.

He started playing the violin in the famous Venezuela Youth Orchestra program (Orquesta Nacional Juvenil de Venezuela). Later he became a teacher and an orchestra trainer within the system (el sistema). He has been the conductor of the CCAYO since January 2008.
