Haochen Zhang, the other co-winner of the Gold medal at the Thirteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2009, is featured for the closing of the 65th season. The youngest participant in the Cliburn competition, Zhang has been described as having “…a musical maturity almost unimaginable in one so young.” He performs Prokofiev’s most popular and critically acclaimed piano concerto, known for its vitality as well as lyrical beauty. Closing the program is the spectacular 1812 Overture, one of the world’s most famous classical masterpieces.
