"From Russia with Love"

Olga Hern
2001 Cliburn Competition Gold Winner

Rachmaninoff - Vocalise
Prokofiev - Romeo and Juliet
Grieg - Piano Concerto in A minor

With playing described by the New York Times as "...brilliant, glassy, supremely aggressive and dazzingly virtuosic in the Horowitz manner," Russian pianist Olga Kern became the first woman in over 30 years to achieve the distinction of winning the gold at the Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2001. She will perform Grieg's popular piano concerto, well-recognized in today's culture as featured in television series, film scores and commercials. The CCSO will also perform excerpts from Romeo and Juliet, some of the most beautiful and romantic music of all time.
